WHAT IS MICRONEEDLE INDUCTION THERAPY?
A fine needling device is used to puncture the skin, creating controlled injuries (micro-channels and micro-perforations) at specific depths. These micro- channels activate the body's natural wound healing response. They also enhance the penetration of serums and other ingredients (ex. the absorption and efficacy of anti aging products can increase up to 3000%!) In addition to micro-channels, micro-needling also creates micro perforations where the dermis and the epidermis meet, stimulating collagen and elastin production in order to renew and repair the skin. Microneedling promotes tissue regeneration, improving the appearance of aging skin and scars. New collagen fibers elevate the depressed tissue, smoothing away fine lines and indentations. Results are noticeable and downtime is minimal. As early as the first treatment, clients may achieve skin that looks and feels better!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling sessions should be done 4 to 6 weeks apart. This allows enough healing time for the skin and helps to maximize results. In most cases, collagen induction requires at least 3 treatments, while scar reduction usually requires between 3 to 6 treatments for optimal results.
OPTIONAL PRE-TREATMENT CARE
The skin's recovery from collagen induction therapy typically follows a three day pattern. Microneedling is generally well tolerated by most skin types. It is normal to have sunburn-like effects, tightness, dryness, sensitivity to touch and/or slight swelling may present after treatment. Additionally, the treated skin will feel dry and tight. Moderate skin flaking is normal in the first few days.
Day 1: Erythema and redness (comparable to a sunburn) and some minor swelling. Minor pinpoint bleeding at the treatment site is common in the hours after a microneedling treatment. This often depends on the depth settings for the needle cartridges used in the treatment.
Day 2: Any erythema and swelling present will begin to subside.
Day 3: Erythema and swelling subsides fully and the skin takes on a healthy pinkish color.
Microneedling side effects may last for up to three days, depending on the depth of the penetration of the needles. By the third day following a microneedling procedure, any swelling or redness will begin to subside and the skin will take on a healthy pinkish color. In general, the treated areas recover rapidly from microneedling.
