Microneedle Induction therapy

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLE INDUCTION THERAPY?

A fine needling device is used to puncture the skin, creating controlled injuries (micro-channels and micro-perforations) at specific depths.  These micro- channels activate the body's natural wound healing response.  They also enhance the penetration of serums and other ingredients (ex. the absorption and efficacy of anti aging products can increase up to 3000%!)  In addition to micro-channels, micro-needling also creates micro perforations where the dermis and the epidermis meet, stimulating collagen and elastin production in order to renew and repair the skin.  Microneedling promotes tissue regeneration, improving the appearance of aging skin and scars.  New collagen fibers elevate the depressed tissue, smoothing away fine lines and indentations. Results are noticeable and downtime is minimal. As early as the first treatment, clients may achieve skin that looks and feels better!

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Microneedling sessions should be done 4 to 6 weeks apart.  This allows enough healing time for the skin and helps to maximize results. In most cases, collagen induction requires at least 3 treatments, while scar reduction usually requires between 3 to 6 treatments for optimal results.

PRE-TREATMENT CARE

  • Avoid anticoagulants and blood thinning medications and supplements 4 days prior to treatment. * If you are on a prescription medication, please speak to your Doctor before discontinuing any medications.
  • Must not have new permanent makeup or injectables on or near the treatment area.
  • Please ensure you have allowed adequate time (at least 2 weeks) for any permanent make up or injectables to heal prior to microneedling.
  • Use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more daily. Sun burnt skin cannot be treated.
  • Skin that is thin , sensitized or compromised in any way may not be treated until fully healed.
  • Sun exposure and or use of tanning beds, including self tanning products must be avoided 24 hours before and after the treatment, preferably one week.
  • Avoid any irritating skin care ingredients, such as any products containing Hydroquinone, bleaching cream, Retin A, Retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids or astringents for at least 3 days prior to treatment.
  • Please advise your technician if you are currently using any prescription creams or products.
  • Do not tweeze or wax the area one week prior to the treatment. This can cause irritation and burns to the skin.
  • If you have any open cuts, wounds, abrasions or cold sore breakouts, we can not perform the procedure and it will need to be rescheduled.

OPTIONAL PRE-TREATMENT CARE

  • Use cellular turnover treatment daily at nighttime for 2 weeks. Discontinue application week prior to treatment.
  • Apply Vitamin C serum once daily for 2-3 weeks.
  • Eat a healthy diet and take Omega 3 Fish Oil daily.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH TREATMENT?

The skin's recovery from collagen induction therapy typically follows a three day pattern. Microneedling is generally well tolerated by most skin types. It is normal to have sunburn-like effects, tightness, dryness, sensitivity to touch  and/or slight swelling may present after treatment. Additionally, the treated skin will feel dry and tight. Moderate skin flaking is normal in the first few days.

Day 1:  Erythema and redness (comparable to a sunburn) and some minor swelling. Minor pinpoint bleeding at the treatment site is not uncommon in the hours after a microneedling treatment. This often depends on the depth settings for the needle cartridges used in the treatment.

Day 2:  Any erythema and swelling present will begin to subside.

Day 3:  Erythema and swelling subsides fully and the skin takes on a healthy pinkish color.

Microneedling side effects may last for up to three days, depending on the depth of the penetration of the needles. By the third day following a microneedling procedure, any swelling or redness will begin to subside and the skin will take on a healthy pinkish color. In general, the treated areas recover rapidly from microneedling.

POST-TREATMENT CARE

  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self tanning lotions for at least 72 hours. Use daily SPF of at least 30.  Do not go outside without sun protection even on a cloudy day.
  • Avoid strenuous excessive or excessive perspiration, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin. This includes saunas and hot water until redness is gone.
  • No swimming for 24 hours post treatment.
  • Do not tweeze or wax the treated area at least one week after your treatment.
  • You may apply makeup 12-24 hrs after treatment. Mineral makeup is optimal. If using makeup brushes make sure they are clean.
  • Cold compress may be applied for comfort.
  • No scratching or rubbing the skin as this can create scarring.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications unless prescribed by your physician, as they can interfere with the healing process.
  • Drink plenty of water

RECOMMENDED HOME CARE

  • Wait at least 4 hours before using any water on the face.
  • You may apply hydrating products such as hyaluronic acid or other post-care soothing products.
  • You may use a gentle cleanser and blot dry your skin; never rub the skin for Days 1-5.
  • Continue with hydrating and calming products to keep the skin hydrated at least twice daily.
  • Use physical SPF 30 or higher for sun exposure starting Day 2.
