Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are smooth, injectable gels primarily used to shape and enhance facial features. They provide a non-surgical, minimal-downtime anti-aging solution to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and rejuvenate the face.
Most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that maintains hydration and structure. As we age, hyaluronic acid levels decrease, leading to sagging and wrinkles. Dermal fillers replace this lost volume instantly, leaving the skin refreshed and naturally youthful.

• Under Eyes (Tear Troughs) – to reduce hollowness
• Nasolabial Folds & Marionette Lines – to smooth deep creases

Note: Dermal fillers do not treat dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement — those are best addressed with neurotoxin treatments.

Fillers are injected using very fine needles or cannulas.

• A topical numbing cream is applied to minimize discomfort.
• The procedure typically takes 20–40 minutes, depending on the area.
• You can return to normal activities right after treatment.

Results are visible immediately after treatment. Temporary redness, swelling, or mild bruising may occur but usually subsides within a few days. Light makeup can be applied if desired.

Results typically last 3 to 24 months, depending on:

• The filler type used
• The area treated
• Individual metabolism and lifestyle

Areas with more movement (like lips) may last 4–6 months, while areas such as cheeks or under eyes can last up to 2 years.

 The treated area is pain free for the first several hours after the treatment. This is normal; however, after the first 24 hours the area may become painful and slightly swollen due to micro bruising. You may have redness and/or skin bumps over the injection sites.  Although rare, infection at the treatment site is always possible. Some individuals experience a mild frontal headache due to the injections. This can be treated with increased hydration and one dose of 500 mg of over the counter acetaminophen. 

 To minimize side effects and optimize your results:

• Disclose all previous neurotoxin treatments, allergies, neurologic conditions, or current medications.
• Avoid blood-thinning agents such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or herbal supplements for 3–5 days before treatment, unless advised otherwise by your physician.
• Consult your primary care provider before stopping any prescribed medication.
• Arrive with clean skin; your provider will remove makeup before injection.

 For best results and safety:

• Do not rub, press, or massage treated areas for at least 4 hours after injection.
• Remain upright for 4 hours following treatment to reduce migration risk.
• Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, facials, or hot yoga for the rest of the day.
• You may shower and perform light daily activities as usual.
• Mild headache or tenderness can occur and usually resolves within 24–48 hours.
• – If needed, acetaminophen (Tylenol®) may be taken.
• Do not intentionally “exercise” or activate the injected muscles. This is not required for results.
• Avoid touching your eyes or upper eyelids, as this area is more sensitive to diffusion.

• Noticeable eyelid or brow drooping
• Asymmetrical results that persist beyond 14 days
• Visual changes, blurred vision, or double vision
• Significant pain, swelling, or bruising that worsens or lasts longer than 7 days
• Any other symptoms that concern you

Results are evaluated at two weeks, when touch-up adjustments (if needed) can be made.

To maintain optimal results, treatments are typically repeated every 3–4 months.
